19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his first title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.

He saved four initial opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
